Ruling coalition distributing money and saris to influence voters: Bharatpur mayoral candidate Poudel

KATHMANDU: Independent mayoral candidate in Bharatpur Metropolitan City Jagannath Poudel has accused the ruling coalition of distributing money and saris to influence voters.

Addressing a corner meeting at Malpot Chowk in Bharatpur on Tuesday, mayoral candidate Poudel said that he had received information that the ruling coalition had distributed Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000 and saris in a bag in the metropolis.

He said the voter influencing activity was being led by the Nepali Congress (NC).

Stating that various attempts were being made to influence the election, he stressed the need to stop such acts.

He said he rebelled to save the NC. “Many NC leaders and activists come to see me,” said Poudel, adding “Even if I win or lose the election, this message must spread across the country, then only the NC will survive.”

Poudel expressed his indignation towards NC Chitwan district President Rajeshwar Khanal.

Poudel said Chitwan president Khanal had called the NC leaders and cadres and told them to vote for the Maoists or else they would face action.
