KATHMANDU: Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by eight wickets in a match held under the Indian Premier League (IPL) at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday night.
Chasing the 144-run target set by Gujarat, Punjab reached it in 16 overs at the cost of two wickets.
Shikhar Dhawan topped the score with 62 unbeaten runs including eight fours and one six. Similarly, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Liam Livingstone made 40 and 30 runs, respectively.
In reply, Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson took one wicket each from Gujarat.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Gujarat had notched up 143 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sai Sudharsan topped the score with 65 runs and remained unbeaten. Similarly, Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller made 21, and 11 runs, respectively.
In reply, Kagiso Rabada grabbed the highest four wickets while Liam Livingstone, Rishi Dhawan and Arshdeep Singh claimed one wicket each.
With this win, Punjab is in the fifth position with 10 points from 10 matches while Gujarat is still in the top position with 16 points from equal 10 matches.
