Three people killed in Gorkha jeep mishap identified



KATHMANDU: The identities of the three people who lost their lives in a jeep accident in Gorkha have been established.

The deceased are Devi Prasad Pokharel, 50, Barpak Sulikot rural municipality-5, Uttar Kumar Sigdel, 80, of ward no. 14, and 45-year-old Padam Neupane of Kathmandu Metropolitan City -16, said DSP Leela Raj Lamichhane of District Police Office, Gorkha.

The accident occurred while an ill-fated jeep, Ba 14 Cha 781, was heading to Chitwan carrying people from Gorka fell from Phirphire cliff at Barpak Siranchowk rural municipality-4, Arubote on Monday evening.

The jeep was returning to Chitwan after dropping wedding attendants in Gorkha.

According to DSP Lamichhane, the jeep with three passengers onboard backslid when the driver was helping the other two passengers get on the jeep.

The dead bodies have been taken to Gorkha Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, police have arrested jeep driver Ghanashyam Lamichhane of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-18, Dharmapuri, and are investigating the case.
