Ruling coalition urges rebel candidates to withdraw candidacies



KATHMANDU: The five-party ruling coalition has urged the rebel candidates to withdraw their candidacies.

A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling coalition chaired by the Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Baluwatar today decided to urge the rebel candidates of the metropolis and sub-metropolis to withdraw their candidacies.

Today (5 pm) is the last day to withdraw the candidacy.

Apart from the ruling coalition, they have also directed the parties to immediately cancel the electoral alliance with the opposition parties.

In Chitwan and other places, rebel candidates have filed candidacies against the ruling coalition candidates.

Earlier, top leaders of the ruling coalition had urged independent (rebel) candidates to withdraw their candidacies.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress (NC) has already warned that the party would take action against the rebel candidates and their supporters.

The Nepali Congress has warned that if the rebel candidature is not withdrawn by 5 pm today, the party would take action against them.
