Budhanilakantha sees 308 candidates vying for various positions



KATHMANDU: A total of 308 candidates have filed their nominations for various positions in Budhanilakantha Municipality of Kathmandu for the May 13 elections.

In the position of Mayor, 15 candidates have filed nominations while 6 are contesting for the post of deputy mayor. Likewise, there are 71 candidates for the post of ward chairperson, 54 for women ward members, 48 for Dalit women members, and 114 for members under the open category, according to Budhanilkantha Municipality Election Officer Chamila Bhattarai.

Budhanilkantha has a total of 13 wards. In Budhanilkantha, Nepali Congress has nominated Binod Chalise as mayor and Ramila Wagle as deputy mayor, while Mitharam Adhikari as mayor and Anita Lama as deputy mayor are contesting from CPN (UML).

Furthermore, Dambar Prasad Adhikari as mayor and Kamala Gautam as deputy mayor are contesting from CPN (Maoist Center).
