Police open fire to arrest armed robbery suspect



KATHMANDU: Police have opened fire to arrest a robber allegedly involved in scores of robberies in Kathmandu Valley.

The arrested is Tshering Tamang alias Kaka, police said.

Tamang was shot in his leg at Attarkhel on the outskirt of Kathmandu Valley and is undergoing treatment at Trauma Center of Bir Hospital.

Police said Tamang is the kingpin of the gang that looted a jewelry shop in Jorpati on May 18. During the robbery, he had attacked the shop owner with a khukuri. Other four members of the gang are already in police net.
