Australian electrician jailed over terror offence



NEW SOUTH WALES: An electrician (from New South Wales-NSW), who helped build rockets and a missile defense system for Islamic State has been jailed for not less than six years and nine months. Haisem Zahab, 44, pleaded guilty last year to providing support to a terrorist organization.

He worked on a laser warning receiver, rockets and a rocket guidance system for IS. He conducted research with an “unwavering focus” and developed missile detection methods for Islamic State.

NSW Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Bellew jailed Zahab for nine years today with no provision for parole for a period of six years and nine months.

Haisem Zahab, 44, was in a cult or bubble of IS supporters including on Twitter. (Agencies)
