Energy Minister Bhusal and Army Chief Sharma talk energy matters



KATHMANDU: Chief of the Army Staff General Prabhu Ram Sharma met with Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal at the latter’s office, in Singha Durbar, on Sunday.

The meeting between the duo focused on the development and consumption of electricity, it has been said.

On the occasion, Minister Bhusal urged the Nepali Army to increase the consumption of electricity. “Now, other sorts of fuel in the kitchen of the Army should be replaced by electricity. For this, the ministry is ready to provide required infrastructure,” said the minister.

The Army should take a decision in converting petrol\diesel vehicles it has been using into electric ones and purchasing electric vehicles in coming days, said minister Bhusal.

Stating that the Army has given important contributions for infrastructure development, she expressed the hope that its contribution would be in the development of hydropower in the days to come. In return, Army Chief Sharma assured that the process of electrifying the kitchen of the Army has moved forwarded and it would be fully implemented in coming days.

He also said that the process of converting petrol\diesel vehicles into electric ones and the Army would purchase and use electric vehicles in days to come. He also assured that the Army will facilitate the development of hydropower projects.

Others present on the occasion were the ministry joint secretary Baburam Bhandari and executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising.
