NC Kaski ward presidents chant slogans demanding Pokhara mayoral seat for party

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Kaski ward presidents have chanted slogans outside Kaski Party Office demanding that the party should get the ticket of mayoral candidate in Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC).

According to the agreement among the ruling coalition parties at center, the mayoral candidate of PMC is allocated for the CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US).

However, NC presidents of all 33 wards in the metropolis have protested demanding that the NC should field the mayoral candidate.

NC is at odds over the electoral coordination of PMC. NC Kaski Secretary Bhanubhakta Dhakal said the leaders in the metropolis would not accept the agreement reached by the central leaders as it weakened the NC at the local level.

“Pokhara wards or rural municipalities cannot be given to the coalition parties. There can be agreement only on some ward members. Or else, the NC will be jeopardized,” he said.
