KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling coalition has decided the sharing of seats in six metropolises and 11 sub-metropolises for the upcoming local election to be held on May 13.
According to CPN-Maoist Center leader Dev Gurung, the meeting of the ruling alliance held at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official residence in Baluwatar Wednesday afternoon reached an agreement to select common candidates for the metropolitan cities and sub-metropolitan cities.
“We have agreed on the distribution of seats. Now we will sign the agreement and make it public,” leader Gurung said.
The coalition had been striving for many days to settle on the seats for the metros and sub-metros.
According to the sources, the agreement on the Mayor and deputy mayor of six metropolises and nine sub-metropolises was reached on Tuesday night, and rest were settled on Wednesday afternoon.
As per the agreement of the parties, the Nepali Congress will get the leadership of 7 sub-metropolitan cities in the local level election.
The CPN-Maoist Center will have the leadership of two sub-metropolitan cities including Jitpur, Simara and Ghorahi.
The Unified Socialists will lead Hetauda and the Janata Samajwadi Party will lead Janakpur Sub-Metropolis. Apart from this, NC will get the leadership of Dharan, Itahari, Kalaiya, Butwal, Tulsipur, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.
The ruling coalition had finalized the distribution of the metropolis on Tuesday.
