BANKE: Banke Association of Contractors has announced a ‘construction holiday’ in the district.
Contractors have halted the construction activities, citing price hikes on construction materials.
With the announcement of the ‘construction holiday’, construction of 500 projects of around seven billion rupees has been halted, said Chairperson of Banke Association of Contractors Tek Bahadur Khadka. He added contractors had been bearing loss due to excessive price hikes of construction materials.
He shared, “There is no condition to work on previous contracts. So, we are compelled to declare a construction holiday.” Contractors said that there is a 25 percent price hike on diesel, 33 percent on bricks and 24 percent on iron.
The association has demanded to adjust the determined rate of construction materials in the district and to extend the deadlines of construction projects.
