Ruling coalition fails to finalize distribution of metropolises and sub metropolises

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the ruling coalition has failed to reach an agreement to finalize the distribution of  metropolis and sub-metropolises on Monday.

The meeting of the ruling coalition met twice throughout the day but failed to reach an agreement, said Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

He added that the meeting would resume on Tuesday as well.

“We could not finalize candidates in all the places and will be meeting again at 11 on Tuesday,” he said.

Earlier, ruling coalition leaders had vowed to conclude the process of candidate selection in six metropolitan cities and 11 sub-metropolitan cities by Monday.

Meanwhile, as the coalition meeting was underway this afternoon, United States Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry had entered Baluwatar. The purpose of his visit is yet to be known.
