The Supreme Court (SC) has sought the documents related to the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

NC Gen Secy Sharma questions govt’s decision to suspend governor

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has questioned the government’s move of suspending the Central Bank governor at a meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC).

Speaking at NC CWC meeting chaired by NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday, Sharma had asked PM Deuba why the government had to suspend Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari at a time when the national economy was at a critical juncture riddled with challenges.

Government to accept another Rs 80 billion US grant

Nepal has accepted about 80 billion in grant aid from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gynendra Bahadur Karki, the April 13 meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to accept Rs 79.71 billion in foreign grants from the US government for various development programs.

Biplav-led NCP leaders meet Home Minister Khand 

Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party Spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma held a meeting with Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand on Friday.

During the meeting that took place at the Home Ministry, the two discussed about the party’s participation in the upcoming local elections slated for May 13, according to Minister’s press coordinator Madhu Sudan Bhattarai.

WB and USAID providing around 100 billion aid to Nepal

The country is receiving around Rs 100 billion in international assistance at a time when the foreign currency reserve is under stress.

The World Bank Group, International Development Association (IDA) is providing Rs 18 billion as concessional loan and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rs 79.71 billion in grant.

NC election mobilization committee instructs to streamline alliances forging process

The local level election mobilization committee of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has instructed the party’s subordinates to take forward the process of electoral coordination in line with the center’s decision.

NC Central member Nain Singh Mahar said the meeting discussed ways to streamline the electoral alliance in the meeting held at the NC headquarters in Sanepa on Friday.

RPP Chair Lingden says no decision yet on forging electoral alliance

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Lingden has said that decision on electoral alliance for the upcoming local level election has not been made.
