Leaders of Chand-led CPN call on Maoist Center Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Two leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplov’ have met with CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

CPN secretariat members Hemant Prakash Oli and Dharmendra Bastola paid a visit to Prachanda at the latter’s residence in Khumaltar on Thursday morning.

The visit came a day after CPN General Secretary Chand ‘Biplov’ and Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda’, who are in favor of going to the polls, met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

“We exchanged New Years greetings and talked about releasing some of our cadres from jail with the Maoist chair,” Bastola wrote on his Facebook, adding they also took stock of Prachanda’s ill wife Sita and wished her recovery.

Oli and Bastola are against contesting the polls.

Prachanda also spoken about the meeting at a program related to Communist polarization held at his residence. “I am happy to have met some of the top leaders of the CPN this morning,” he said. “We want the whole communist block to be united and I am hopeful, others leaders will also ponder about it.”

Prachanda said though talks were held with the top leadership of Chand-led CPN about unification, they were shy to return to the Maoist Center.
