CIAA files graft cases against 14 individuals



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed cases against 14 individuals in the special court on corruption cases in a single day.

The anti-graft body filed cases against 7 people yesterday for embezzling a public property in the Regional Agriculture Investigation Center.

Those facing corruption charges include the chief of the pig research unit Ramdev Pandit, other officials Shakuntala Rai, Prakash Kumar Yadav, Sovit Lal Yadav, Tilak Rajbangshi, Krishna Prasad Pokharel, and Hari Krishna Shrestha.

They have been alleged to have embezzled Rs 700,000 by recording a low level of weight than the average weight, reads the petition.

Similarly, the anti-graft body has filed a case against three people including the former principal of Shree Primary School based in Narasingha-5, Sunsari, Siddhinath Lal Das on corruption charges.

It is alleged that they had misappropriated the public property by faking the government documents.

The others facing charges are Manoj Kumar Chaudhary and Tarini Prasad Khatiwada.

Similarly, the cases have been filed against other four individuals including a former teacher of Chandannath Secondary School, Kalananda Majhi.

Majhi was alleged to have forged government documents to help his son, Shekhar Majhi, get through grade 11.
