Nepal Army hands over 590 weapons to APF



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has handed over 590  arms and ammunition to the Armed Police Force, Nepal.

During a function held at NA Headquarters on Sunday, Chief of Army Staff  Prabhuram Sharma handed over 500 INSAS rifle barrels and 90 L86 Life Support Weapons (LSW) to Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Nepal Shailendra Khanal.

The weapons were handed over in the presence of the Defense secretary and Home secretary, the army said.

As per the decision of the Council of Ministers of April 7, NA agreed to provide INSAS Rifle 9,000 (9,000) and LSW 1600 with a total of 10,600 to the Armed Police Force for the purpose of training, special and highly specialized personnel security, office security and conducting large scale programs. NA handed over 590 weapons in the first phase on Sunday.
