Ruling coalition to formulate common criteria for local election candidates

The ruling five-party alliance is set to formulate common criteria for candidates contesting the local elections.

Today’s meeting of the Local Election Preparation and Monitoring Committee decided to make minimum criteria for the selection of common candidates even though the parties have their own method of selection of candidates.

Consensus already made to forge electoral alliance, Prachanda says

Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the ruling parties had already agreed to go for an electoral alliance in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a program organized in Chitwan to provide land ownership documents to the landless and Dalits on Wednesday, the Maoist Centre Chairperson said the electoral alliance should be made in the local, province and federal level elections to safeguard the constitution and transformation.

NC issues circular not to immediately unveil candidacies

Nepali Congress (NC) has issued a circular to the district working committees not to immediately unveil the list of candidates for chiefs and deputy chiefs of local bodies.

The circular has been issued saying that a modality of the alliance is being worked out at the center level for the upcoming local level elections.

Nepal gets consent to sell additional 325 MW of electricity to India

India has agreed to let Nepal to sell an additional 325 MW of electricity in the competing Indian market.

Speaking at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on Wednesday, Minister Pampha Bhusal informed that India has given permission to sell an additional 325 MW of electricity to its market.

NOC hikes petro-prices yet again

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state oil monopoly, has hiked the prices of petroleum products yet again.

The NOC on Tuesday night hiked the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 5 per liter and cooking gas by Rs 25 per cylinder.

Passenger-friendly police response program to begin at TIA

The security office has started ‘passenger-friendly police response’ program at the Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital.

As part of the program, first police officials serving here would be provided with knowledge and skills on passenger-friendly response through training.

As many as 265 police personnel on duty at the airport would attend the training.
The training will be imparted to the police personnel where they would be trained on how to respond to the service seekers coming to the airport in a polite, civilized and decent manner.
