Woman fallen into well rescued safely



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police rescued a woman fallen into a deep well at Budhanilakantha Municipality, Kathmandu was rescued safely.

A joint team of Metropolitan Police Sector Budhanilantha, and Disaster Management Division rescued the 45-year old Pema Sharpa who fell into 50- feet deep well on Monday evening. The accident occurred at Mitrachowk of Budhanilakantha Municipality-3 in Kathmandu.

It took four hours for the joint rescue team to complete the rescue operation, said Spokesperson of Metropolitan Police, Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Raj Mainali. The rescued Sherpa is a tenant at a local Hari Shrestha’s house. She had gone missing since 2:30pm.
She was released in an unconscious state and has been undergoing treatment at Karuna Hospital, Budhanilakantha-13.

There were 17 police persons in the rescue team.

Investigation into the accident is underway, Spokesperson Mainali informed, adding that Sherpa’s health condition improved now and she could speak.
