India visit to strengthen bilateral relations: PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said his visit to India was focused on bolstering Nepal-India relations and holding discussions on bilateral economic cooperation.

PM Deuba, who reached New Delhi on an official visit on Friday afternoon, said it during a ceremony organized by the Nepali Embassy in Delhi.

“I believe my visit will reach Nepal-India relations to a new height,” he said, reminding that it was his fifth visit in the prime ministerial stint. He shared the information that during his visit, significant announcements would be made in the sectors of energy, agriculture, health and transportation.

Similarly, some memorandum of understandings (MoUs) were also on the exchange list. The high-level visits exchanged between Nepal and India from time to time would be fruitful to enhance the bilateral relations, PM Deuba said, appreciating the togetherness the migrant Nepalis in India had with Nepali Embassy during the COVID crisis.

He also lauded the creative role the community of migrant Nepalis played for assisting Nepal. PM Deuba shared the government priority of recovering and enhancing the economy dented by COVID crisis for the rapid economic development.

“Present government is shouldering the significant responsibility of consolidating federal system by bolstering democracy, protecting human rights and maintaining good governance,” he reminded, adding that another responsibility is to conduct three tiers of elections within a year.
