KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and visiting Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi have held talks at Hotel Marriott in Naxal this morning.
Chairman Oli reached Naxal-based Hotel Marriott to meet with Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang.
UML Senior leader Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Foreign Affairs Department Chief Rajan Bhattarai, Former Ambassador Dr Anjan Shakya, UML central member and secretary of Madan Bhandari Foundation Pemba Lama and Chairperson of Foundation Usha Kiran Bhandari were present in the meeting.
CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda is also scheduled to meet with Wang at the same Hotel Marriott. Prachanda has already reached Marriott.
The two leaders will dwell on issues related to bilateral interest and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), it is learnt. Wang who came on Friday on a three-day Nepal visit is returning to China today itself.
Earlier this morning, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
On Saturday, officials from both countries signed nine sets of agreements on enhancing mutual cooperation following bilateral talks between Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka and his Chinese counterpart Wang.
Welcoming his Chinese counterpart to the bilateral talks, Minister Khadka expressed his desire to take the centuries-old Nepal-China relations to a new height.
Minister Khadka also stressed the need for the timely completion of Chinese-assisted development projects during the meeting.
