WALING: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the local governments should be accountable and transparent in order to address people’s aspiration.

PM Deuba said it while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Chapakot Municipality at Suntalinagar on Thursday.

Local governments are the closest government to the people, PM Deuba said, adding that the activities should therefore be transparent.

“Make your activities transparent and win people’s heart,” he urged the local levels.

He also underscored that the local level election would be held on time and in free and fair manner.

According to him, all sides’ cooperation is imperative to promote Chapakot as a significant destination from tourism and religious viewpoints.

Similarly, former deputy prime minister Gopal Man Shrestha viewed that development activities could be intensified focusing Chapakot of Syangja and Rampur of Palpa.

Big cities could be established on either side of Kaligandaki River, he said.

Shrestha also reminded that a bridge was constructed over the Kaligandaki River when he was the minister for physical infrastructures.

On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha claimed that the ruling alliance would be continued till the completion of the elections.

The ruling alliance was formed against regression, he said, adding that government was committed to saving the Kaligandaki civilization.

Similarly, former minister Minendra Rijal said NC would lead the change in the country.
