KATHMANDU: A central committee (CC) meeting of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav is taking place at the central party headquarters in Shivagadhi, Kapilvastu.
Group-wise discussions are taking place on the report floated by General Secretary Biplav in the CC meeting which started since early morning today.
The meeting which started on Friday had been deferred until Saturday morning as the leaders bought time to study Biplav’s report.
Party’s General Secretary Biplav on February 28 had proposed to capitalize on the local level elections. However, there are differences on whether to take part in the elections or not. In the five-member secretariat of the NCP, only Bishwokarma had supported Biplav’s proposal.
Dharmendra Bastola and Hemanta Wali ‘Sudarshan’ had stood against the proposal. Member Santosh Budha Magar had remained neutral.
Since Biplav has been holding meetings with CPN (Maoist Center) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara regularly, it is likely that he will propose to move ahead forming an alliance with the Maoist Center.
The local level elections will be held on May 13. Biplav’s NCP had boycotted the previous local level elections.
