Holi festival: Govt deploys over 3500 police in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: As many as 3,500 police personnel have been deployed in the Kathmandu Valley to provide security on the occasion of Holi today.

Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh Rathore informed that security arrangements have been made keeping in view the various events of Holi.

Rathore said that security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incidents.

As many as 1,700 police personnel have been mobilized in Kathmandu alone. Likewise, more than 600 police personnel have been deployed in Lalitpur and more than 400 in Bhaktapur.

Meanwhile, as many as 300 traffic police have been deployed keeping in view the negligence of drivers during Holi.

Traffic checking will be done at 68 places in the Kathmandu Valley today.

SSP Umesh Raj Joshi said two monitoring teams, 14 mobile teams, vehicles’ record management team and additional traffic police on motorcycles under the leadership of a DSP have been deployed since early morning.
