UML endorses criteria to recommend candidates for local polls

District committee to recommend mayoral candidates



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Secretariat meeting centered on the upcoming local level election has endorsed the criteria for recommending candidates for local elections.

The meeting held at party chairperson KP Sharma Oli’s personal residence, Balkot, Bhaktapur on Tuesday endorsed the criteria for recommending candidates for local level elections, informed chief of publicity department Prithivi Subba Gurung.

According to the criteria, the UML’s ward committee would recommend the candidate for ward chair and member while district committee will decide on the tickets for the election to be held on May 13.

Likewise, rural municipality chairperson and vice-chairperson as well as mayoral candidates will be recommended by the district committee, Gurung said.

The major opposition party has called for politburo meeting on March 21, central committee meeting on March 23-24. The Standing Committee meeting has been called on March 27, informed Gurung.

The meeting also decided to prepare manifesto for the upcoming election.
