Speaker Sapkota makes special request to end House impasse for smooth functioning of state affairs



KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has urged to end the impasse in the House of Representatives (HoR) and help in moving forward House proceedings.

At the meeting of the HoR on Sunday, Speaker Sapkota, reminding that the law-making process was affected due to the obstruction of the parliament, requested for assistance of parliamentary parties in the functioning of the House.

According to the speaker, 42 bills are under consideration in the House, the daily problems of the public are not reaching the government and efforts to find solutions to public problems are being hampered, among other state affairs, due to obstruction of House proceedings. Reminding that it was the responsibility of all to help in smooth functioning of the state organs, he urged to endorse bills that under consideration as per House rules.

The UML has been obstructing the House for long putting forth a list of demands.

Participating in the HoR meet today, CPN-UML lawmaker Bhim Rawal said the government was tight-lipped on India’s unilateral operation a dozer in Bangabagar of Darchula district. He decried government apathy towards Indian encroachment of Nepali territory.

Similarly, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) lawmaker Prem Suwal also condemned the Indian side and demanded immediate halt to embankment construction.

Also in the HoR meet today, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bharat Kumar Sah presented the annual report of the committee.
