Ruling coalition has agreed to make an electoral alliance in local elections, claims Madhav Nepal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling partner, Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed that an agreement has been reached among the ruling partners to forge an electoral alliance in the local elections.

Speaking at the party’s central committee meeting in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chairman Nepal said that an agreement has been reached between the ruling parties regarding the preparations for the local elections.

He also directed leaders to mobilize party cadres as part of the preparations for the local elections.

Indicating at the CPN-UML, Chairman Nepal instructed the party leaders and cadres to prepare for the upcoming election to prove that those claiming to be strong are, in fact, weak.

“Our focus will be on the election,” he said, adding, “We are already in discussions with the coalition parties regarding the preparations for the elections.”

Meanwhile, he also issued strict instructions to the party leaders not to make any negative comments against the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact.

Addressing the party’s central committee meeting held at Karki Banquet at Baber Mahal on Wednesday, Chairman Nepal instructed the central members not to raise voice against MCC.

“The party has already decided on MCC. Everyone should accept the decision of the party,” he said, adding, “Please delete the status written against MCC. With the interpretative declarations on the compact, the ambiguity about MCC has been removed.”
