KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has objected to the use of green color on ballots, as decided by the Election Commission (EC), in the local level election.
Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he questioned the EC as to why it was using the green ballots.
The EC on Monday said that the symbols, details and security symbols would be green when printing ballot papers for the local level election slated for May 13. However, the main opposition leader has opposed use of green on ballots.
“What is the purpose of using green color? Is it due to religious reasons?” he wondered. Referring to the Nepali Congress election symbol ‘Tree’ that has green color, he questioned if the color was chosen as some party’s election symbols had traces of green.
He viewed that if the Election Commission really considered using green on ballots then the decision should be corrected.
