Bear makes surprise visit at hospital ward

TAPLEJUNG: A bear has entered the patient’s ward at the District Hospital last night. The animal sneaked into the gynecology ward of the hospital at 11 pm on Thursday, the Hospital said.

Hospital doctor Soning Lama said the bear has been locked inside the ward with the help of police by shutting the door after it was detected inside the empty ward. According to Lama the bear entered the ward through the backdoor.

Preparation is being made to rescue the wild animal in coordination with the National Trust for Nature Conservation, said Ramesh Yadav, the Warden at the Kanchanjangha Area Conservation Council.

It is estimated that the bear might have descended to the district headquarters from the upper reaches to escape cold.
