KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML has termed the recent political developments in the country and the passage of the US grant project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) by the parliament as ‘exposure of fraudulent business’ of the ruling coalition.

Speaking at a press conference organized by UML in Kathmandu today, Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali accused the ruling coalition of hatching conspiracy against the main opposition.

Leader Gyawali read out the written speech of Chairman KP Oli and said that the conditional assistance and grant of any country would not be good.

“MCC has been used as a weapon to weaken UML; however, the way it is passed has revealed the true character of the ruling alliance,” UML chair Oli said, adding, “Yet, as the proposal has been passed by the parliament of the country, now it is in the interest of the country to implement the project.”

The UML Chairman termed the passing of the MCC with interpretative declaration as meaningless, for in his opinion, such declaration have no legal validity in the contract.
