ICC Men’s WC Qualifier: Nepal taking on UAE in semi-final today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is taking on United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the first semi-final match under the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup Qualifier.

The match will be played at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat, the the capital city of Oman at 3:45 pm today (according to Nepali time).

Nepal has played four Twenty20 international games with UAE so far. Of them, Nepal and UAE have won two each. In the four-nation series held before the world cup qualifier, UAE had defeated Nepal by 25 runs.

Nepal has performed brilliantly in the World Cup Qualifier. Nepal has entered the semi-final by clinching wins in all the three matches of the group stage. On the other hand, UAE has won two and lost one in the group stage matches.

This match is crucial for both the teams as the winner will set the journey to the World Cup to be held in Australia.

Out of eight teams, Ireland and UAE from Group A and Nepal and Oman from Group B have entered the semi-finals of the World Cup Qualifier.

Even though Ireland and UAE have equal points, Ireland became first on the basis of run rate. Nepal has six points and Oman has four points.

Nepal secured a place in the semi-finals of the Global Twenty20 Cricket World Cup qualifiers by defeating Canada by eight wickets in Monday’s match.
