MCC now draws nation’s concern: Senior NC leader Poudel

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said with the introduction of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact in the House, the nation’s attention has been shifted to the parliament.

“The MCC issue has entered the House from the street.”

The leader, who is dedicating his time for political discussions on MCC in a bid to come up with a common understanding among parties in the Federal Parliament, argued that meaningful and substantive discussions in regard to the Compact would be held in the Parliament.

The former Speaker said, “We just hear rumors and propaganda about the MCC in public. Now it has been tabled in the House and it has drawn the nation’s attention.”

Talking to media persons after a meeting with Janata Socialist Party Chair Upendra Yadav, the former Deputy Prime Minister said the issue was discussed through vivid angles connecting it to the country’s international relations to the development status.

As he explained, they shared no differing views in principle, but some technical issues call for further discussions. The leader said he hoped the MCC would help increase nation’s income, alleviate poverty and improve the people’s status.
