Policewoman dies after being hit by truck



NEPALGUNJ: A young policewoman has been killed when a truck hit her at Kohalpur in Banke district.

Kavita Budha Chhetri, a police constable working at the Area Police Office, Kohalpur, was killed when a truck (Na 3 Kha 6436) heading towards Nepalgunj from Shamshergunj overturned at Kohalpur crossroads and hit her.

The accident took place at around 10 last night. The speeding truck had initially collided with a divider on the south side of Kohalpur intersection and hit Budha Chhetri who was on duty on the side of the road. The 36-year-old was a resident of Thakur Baba Municipality-7, Bardia.

The truck also damaged two scooters (Be 8 B 4068 and Be 10 Pa 4624), said Himalaya Shah, Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Banke.

The truck driver Lokraj KC, a resident of Babai Village Municipality, Ward No. 6, Dang, has been taken under control by the Area Police Office, Kohalpur for necessary action.
