MCC unlikely to be tabled in today’s HoR meeting

KATHMANDU: It appears that the millennium challenge corporation (MCC) is unlikely to be tabled in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

The MCC does not feature in the agenda items of the HoR meeting scheduled for 1 pm today. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) at 11 am to fix the agenda items for today’s meeting.

The MCC will not be included as an agenda if the interlocuters do not reach consensus on the issue, informed the parliament secretariat. Representatives of all the political parties represented in the parliament take part in the BAC meeting.

A meeting of the ruling alliance is taking place this morning. The MCC would be tabled even if the consensus leaders of the ruling coalition strike a deal on it. As per the existing provision, the Speaker also can fix the agenda for the HoR meeting even without holding the BAC meeting.

In the BAC meeting held on Wednesday, Ministry for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu had suggested that the MCC should be tabled with the consensus coalition parties.
