SYANGJA: Waling Municipality of Syangja has initiated preparation for collecting data about immigrants with the assistance of Safer Migration Initiative (SAMI), HELVETAS Nepal and Blinds Community Development Center.

The municipality is mobilizing enumerators for data collection after completing training on Wednesday.

Municipality mayor DilipPratapKhand informed that the data of the municipal residents in overseas employment or the returnees, their skills and qualifications would be collected under this initiative.

“The trained enumerators would reach to the households to collect data on the citizens in overseas employment, returnees and their skills”.

He further shared that the municipality is planning to develop a one-stop ‘employment portal’ containing the information about the interests, skills and qualifications of the job/employment seekers.

“It will help the municipality to connect the job seekers and job providers such as industry, factory and manufacturing companies”.

The portal will contain the information about those returnees from overseas employment and also the details of human resources required for industries and factories, Khand added.

Chief Administrative Officer RajanBhattarai said enumerators would be mobilized in all 14 wards to bring data to know the status of employment of the municipality residents at home and abroad.
