IFRC Secretary General Chapagain on Nepal visit



KATHMANDU: Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Jagan Chapagain has come on a visit to Nepal. He is the first Nepali to hold the high post of IFRC, the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Chapagain arrived here on Tuesday. While in Nepal, he will acquire information about the IFRC and Nepal Red Cross activities in Nepal.

The 52-year-old IFRC official Chapagain has been continuously involved in the Red Cross movement for the last 25 years and he took up the responsibility of the Secretary-General since 1 February 2020. It is his first visit to Nepal after his appointment at the post.

More than 192 countries are members of IFRC, bringing together almost 14 million volunteers for the good of humanity.
