Israel faces another election – the second this year

JERUSALEM: Israel faces another snap election campaign — unprecedented one and the second this year. Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu dissolved the parliament (called Knesset) on Thursday after he failed to form a governing coalition.

A new election date September 17 has been set. Netanyahu, though he secured a comfortable win in last month’s election, could not manufacture a parliamentary majority to form a government. His traditional ally, Avigdor Lieberman, refused to align with him precipitating the present crisis of the present snap poll.

Bejamin Netanyahu has led Israel for the past decade. He is facing challenge and confrontation to his lengthy rule now. (Agencies)
