KATHMANDU: The Valley Province Committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has called for full implementation of the Working Journalist Act, 2052 BS.

Drawing attention on negligence of some media houses in regularly providing salary and other facilities of late as well as implementing the WJA, 2052 BS, the FNJ province committee has warned to launch a struggle against such media houses.

Committee’s fourth full-fledged meeting has decided to reactivate ‘COVID-19 Valley Coordination Committee (CVCC)’ so as to play coordinating role to support media workers and journalists in view of the third wave of the pandemic.

“All journalists and media workers are urged to engage in their works, including reporting taking high precautionary measures when the new variant of COVID is widespread”, said the decision.

The committee has also demanded the FNJ central office to immediately stop shifting and renewing membership without seeking recommendation from the province committee against the FNJ statute.
