7th National Yoga Day being observed virtually

KATHMANDU: The seventh National Yoga Day is being observed by organising various programmes through virtual medium under the slogan ‘Yoga for overall development’.

Following the increasing cases of coronavirus infection with new variant, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology directed to celebrate the Day through virtual means.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 13, 2015 formally decided to observe Magh 1 as National Yoga Day and handed over the responsibility of coordinating it to the Education Ministry.

The cabinet meeting at the proposal of the then Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Narahari Acharya, had announced Magh 1 as the National Yoga Day.

It is believed that it would help people to protect themselves from coronavirus as regular yoga practice increases immunity power.
