Students smear black soot on KMC Executive Chair Sharma



KATHMANDU: Dissatisfied at the ‘stubbornness’ of Kathmandu Medical College Executive Chairman Sunil Sharma, irate students have smeared black powder on his face on Friday.

According to sources, Sharma was coming out from a meeting held between the agitating medical students, their guardian, Education Minister and other officials when few students greeted and manhandled him.

Taking part in the meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Sharma had argued that the medical colleges could not reconsider the fee they had announced as they had done so based on the physical infrastructure of the college.

He had even written a note of dissent to the decisions made at the meeting.

Earlier, the meeting held between the agitating medical college students, their guardians, various student organizations, proprietors of medical colleges and the ministry officials had agreed not to take more fee than the one fixed by the Ministry.

According to a source, the police have already arrested the students for their misconduct. The arrested students are said to be the leaders of the student organizations close to Netra Bikram Chand Biplava-led CPN (Maoist) and Madhav Nepal-led Unified Socialist Party.
