US will work closely with India: Trump administration

WASHINGTON: The United States has said it would continue to work closely with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, media reports said on Wednesday.

The Trump administration said India is America’s “great ally” and asserted that that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was ‘looking forward’ for a ‘robust discussion’ on a wide range of issues with his Indian counterpart.

State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said America was confident in the integrity and fairness of the Lok Sabha elections in India.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration, including President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and Pompeo have already congratulated PM Modi and his party for the electoral victory in the Lok Sabha elections. (Agencies)
