Political coordination committee to take initiative to run parliament smoothly

KATHMANDU: The High-Level Political Coordination Committee of the ruling coalition has decided to take initiative to run the parliament smoothly.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has been continuously obstructing the House of Representatives (HoR) alleging Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of being biased and not being able to deliver impartially.

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and committee coordinator Ram Chandra Poudel at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar on Friday decided to take initiative for the smooth functioning of the parliament.

Informing about the decision of the meeting, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Karki said that the committee would take initiative to make the parliament function smoothly as it was not appropriate to obstruct the parliament in any way.

Minister Karki also said that the role of the opposition would be as much as the role of the government in running the parliament.

“The Parliament has been obstructed for a long time. It is not appropriate to obstruct it. Therefore, we discussed the smooth functioning of the parliament,” he said.

It should be noted that NC senior leader Poudel, the convener of the committee, had held a discussion with UML Chairman KP Oli at the latter’s residence in Balkot.
