NC will end groupism and factionalism in party: Gen Secy Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that groupism and factionalism will be stopped in the party from now on.

Addressing a mass gathering where newcomers joined the NC in Panini, Arghakhanchi, on Monday, NC General Secretary Thapa vowed that the party would leave no room for factionalism and groupism in the days ahead.

Stating that the party’s internal struggle was embarrassing the country, he said that he was determined not to allow such shortcomings in the party any more.

Welcoming Laxmi Gautam, who won the post of village municipality vice-chairperson from CPN-UML, to the NC, leader Thapa said that his party’s goal is to get 1.5 million people to join the party by the upcoming election.

“Though no formal announcement has been made, the party entry campaign has started from today,” he said, vowing, “500 cadres joined NC today, 1.49 million will be added in next eight months.”

He expressed his commitment to run the government for five years after gaining a majority in the upcoming elections.

He said that the party would learn from the mistakes made by NC led majority government in 1990 and the mistakes made by the Nepal Communist Party in 2018.
