Delegates conclude presenting summary of group discussions

Process for leadership selection to begin Friday



KATHMANDU: Delegates have concluded presenting conclusions of the group discussions held on the political report of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the ongoing 8th National General Convention of the CPN-Maoist Center on Thursday.

Subsequently, a Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the party has begun.

According to SC member, the SC meeting will deliberate whether or not to allow reading out supplementary or dissenting views presented by representatives on the political report in the general convention.

The general convention delegates held discussions on Prachanda’s report in 25 different groups and team leaders took turns to present the conclusion of discussions Wednesday and Thursday.

Now, delegates will assemble again at 1 pm Friday and Maoist Chair Prachanda will respond to views and dissenting voices that came from the group discussions.

Reports of the party’s discipline, accounts and election Commission will also be tabled on Friday.

Hence, the conference is likely to continue until coming Saturday if the election program is not completed on Friday.

Chief of the party’s Election Commission, Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, shared that all election programs for determining new leadership would be taken forward after the draft statute is passed Friday.
