Discussion held on election security strategy



KATHMANDU: The government has started discussion with office-bearers of stakeholder agencies regarding the election of member of National Assembly and security arrangements and resources required for upcoming local-level elections.

Suggestions were gathered about security strategy and logistics management in a joint meeting held Monday among various ministers and secretaries and representatives of security bodies. The meeting today was chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.

Discussion was held over various issues of security concern for free, fair and peaceful election as well as assessment of resources required for election security and its management was done in the meeting.

Secretaries of ministries of Finance, Defense, Foreign Affairs and General Administration and representatives of all security bodies were present in the meeting.

Home Ministry Spokesperson, Pradeep Koirala, said that different proposals were presented in the meeting and a decision was taken to move ahead by holding discussion again on formulating a plan on the basis of suggestions, calculating the resources and its management.
