KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that tyranny of any person or clan was no longer acceptable in the country.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 8th National General Convention of the CPN-Maoist Center in Kathmandu Sunday, he clarified Nepal had already leaped forward and there was no possibility of reversing historical gains.

He stressed building a new Nepal through healthy conversation on differing beliefs and ideas among the political parties. Noting the political history of Nepal, he said success was achieved in the past when political parties stood together and the same can be ensured by moving forward united.

He called on the parties to stand together to preserve political gains of the past such as abolishment of monarchy, establishment of republic, federalism and protection of secularism.

Stating that discrimination, inequality, discrimination, injustice and atrocities were rife in Nepali society, he appealed to focus on ending those shortcomings.

He emphasized the need for discussion among the leaders, parties and intellectuals to determine the socialism of Nepali character as it was clear that country was on the path of socialism.

He also suggested Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to organize such dialogue.
