Nepal defeats Maldives, registers second consecutive win in AVC Asian Central Volleyball Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepal has registered its second consecutive victory towards women category in AVC Asian Central Zone Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship. The championship is taking place in Bangladesh.

Nepal won the match today by defeating Maldives in a straight set in the match held at Saheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium located at Dhaka Mirpur. Nepal defeated Maldives in a straight set 25-11, 25-9 and 25-5.

Nepal had registered its first victory by defeating Sri Lanka in 3-2 set in the first match held on Thursday. With the second consecutive win, there is strong chance of Nepal reaching the final.

Nepal will play against host Bangladesh on Saturday.

Six different countries– Bangladesh, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan — have been participating under women category in the championship. Two teams getting highest positions in the championship would compete in the final.

Similarly, Nepal is playing against Uzbekistan today under men’s category. The match was scheduled at 5:45 pm Nepal time. Five different countries—Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan have participated under men category in the championship.
