Lalita Niwas land grab case: Subedi, his wife arrested

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police has arrested Ram Kumar Subedi and his wife Madhavi on the charge of preparing fake documents in the case of transferring the Lalita Niwas land in the name of an individual.

The CIB arrested the Subedi couple from Swayambhu last night.

They have been taken to Kathmandu District Court seeking the extension of their detention.

It is alleged that Subedi, who works as a clerk in the Land Revenue Office, played a role in registering the government-owned Lalita Niwas land in the name of a person in collusion with Shobha Kanta Dhakal.

Dhakal, who is believed to be a planner with him, is in custody.

Subedi was absconding despite investigations confirming that more than 136 ropanis of land had been usurped by high-ranking politicians, employees, secretaries of ministries, land revenue officers and other land mafias during the four governments of 2049 BS, 2062 BS, 2066/67 BS and 2069 BS.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case against 110 people including the Subedi couple in a special court on February 5, 2020.

The Subedi couple was absconding.
