Police confirm Bilpav-led outfit’s involvement in two separate explosions in the capital

KATHMANDU: At least three people have died and five others injured in two separate incidences of explosions at Sukedhara and Ghattekulo of Anamnagar in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon, police have confirmed.

Two persons (Hari Khadka, a resident of Milan Chowk, Kapan and Surendra Maharjan, a resident of Chunikhel, Kapan) died in the blast at Dhalanepul in Sukedhara. While Khadka died on the spot, Maharjan breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Om Hospital in Chabahil.

Similarly, one person died in a similar incident at Ghattekulo, Anamnagar, according to Hobindra Bogati, the spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range.

The blast occurred at around 4:30 pm, police have confirmed. The injured identified as Rabin KC, 26, a permanent resident of Sanubheri rural municipality, Rukum, has been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital in the capital. The identification of the deceased is, however, yet to be ascertained.

Eyewitnesses, including Hema Koirala, who runs a grocery, said they heard a blast in the ground floor of a house at Sangamgalli, Ghattekulo. Initially, they assumed it was a transformer blast. “Later people said it was a gas cylinder explosion,” she said adding, “It was neither a transformer nor a gas cylinder. It was something different.”

Meanwhile, police have said pamphlets of the Biplav-led outfit have been found at the site.
