Closed session of NC’s 14th general convention commences

Deliberations will be made before endorsing various reports



KATHMANDU: The closed session has started under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

A closed session just started at convention venue Bhrikuti Mandap at around 9 pm Friday.

Leaders of the establishment faction of the party led by President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba are participating in the closed session.

However, the closed session is not being attended by leaders of non-establishment faction as leaders close to senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel are busy in discussions to pick a consensus presidential candidate near the convention venue. Aspirants of Poudel faction are making eleventh hour attempts to pick a consensus candidate as candidacy filing starts Saturday morning.

NC Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi is to table a report drafted by the party’s Department of Policy and Research in the closed session. In addition, the organizational report of the General Secretary and the report of the Accounts Committee are also scheduled to be endorsed.

Likewise, a report proposing the amendment of different clauses and sub-clauses the NC statute and ways for removing difficulties would also be presented as per the NC central committee meeting as part of the preparation of 14th general convention. Deliberations would be made before endorsing the reports presented.
