UML Chair Oli ignores greetings offered by Maoist Chair Prachanda and CPN-US Chair Nepal

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has ignored the greeting offered by former leaders of the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP) at the inaugural session of the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress.

The NC’s 14th general convention kicked off at Bhrikutimandap, in Kathmandu, Friday afternoon.

As UML Chair Oli reached Bhrikutimandap to attend the inaugural session of NC’s general convention, he greeted NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and assumed his seat at the stage. At the same time, he was greeted by Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, who were seated next to NC President Deuba.

But, Chair Oli, ignoring their greeting, neither acknowledged them nor greeted them back.

Chair Oli is unsatisfied with Maoist Chair Prachanda and CPN-US Chair Nepal after the two formed alliance against Oli and led a rebellion against him while all three were in the NCP. Prachanda and Nepal’s rebellion against Oli led to the collapse of the erstwhile NCP and the change in government.

UML Chair Oli last time shared stage with Prachanda a year ago and had not seen leader Nepal since five months.

The NC’s 14th general convention has brought three leaders together at one place albeit relations among them is still sour.
